As for me and my family 2017 has been nothing but a very unpleasant and sorrowful year. We started the year on a high note hoping for only the best things life could possibly throw at us. Resolutions amongst us or rather to some of us were made. I had high hopes in finding a job and making life at home more easier to live. I was hoping for any kind of job even though I have a qualification but I was more that ready to settle with whatever comes up. I guess we do not always get what we want. Mistakes were made and lessons were learnt from them. To highlight a few of them:
Not everyone who is in your life is happy about some of the good things happening in your life.
Some will pretend to be all sorry and feeling pity for you only to find that their hearts are at happiness and are dancing to the tune of your sorrows.
Only a few will admit if they do/did you wrong and ask for forgiveness. Keep those you will need them and would possibly make a great team with them in future, the rest throw them in the bin and move on with your life. You owe them nothing, absolutely nothing.
Never let someone control your life. They can’t live their lives and yours altogether. 2018 must be about you and only YOU. You do you and you stay true to who you are. Your life, Your decisions and Your HAPPINESS!
Life is even worse if families can’t keep their shit together. You’d find families not getting along for all the wrong reasons. . Family members hating on each other because the other is much educated than the other or the other is successful than the other.In this life You alone can only limit yourself.
If you happen to feel offended by one’s success than you have only you(yourself) to blame. Make use of you brain and hands. If you find it difficult to grasp in the classroom. There definitely must be some handwork you’re good at. Go for artisan/skills classes to gain more knowledge about that certain handwork you’re interested in. As much as education is important we cannot run away from the fact that we are different and so are our minds. Some of us find difficulty in learning and because we’re too proud to accept and we end up repeating grades for years and years. Get your life together, make something good out of your life and stop hating on those who’ve made it in life. Your time is coming, you only need patience.
Back to how 2017 treated me and my family. Nearing the end we lost one of us. A tragic time for us all indeed. We did not expect it, it happened so fast that even to this day we’re still shocked by the tragic loss of our jewel, a gem we held dearly close to our hearts. We were at a time where our hearts were still in the healing and mending process after burying three family members in the past year (2016). This taught me of how short life it. It taught me to spend every little time I get with my loved ones and it also taught me the importance of family. I was reminded of the important things I took lightly. Losing a family member is the most painful thing ever, that I do not wish for the next person to experience but this is life and we must accept things we can’t change as they are. Death will always be part of our lives, there is no running away from it but we stay in the hope that one day it shall also be conquered and will die as the bible says.
And last but not least Be the change your family needs. Plan the get togethers, involve them in your planning. Make them see the importance of togetherness as a family. Make them realise the important roles you each play in each other's (as a family) lives. The most painful truth is we do not choose who we want to be family with. So your family are the only people you share the same blood with. If they don't want to commit in mending your relationship as a family don't blame yourself. You played your part and the sad truth is things didn't turn out the way you hoped they would. Don't beat yourself up. Someday things will eventually fall into place. At least you tried. Better fail trying. Right?😜
